Best Czech Series at Anifilm 2026
This May, I set off with my colleagues and friends in a colourful Volkswagen T-Roc for Anifilm in Liberec. This year was particularly special, as three projects I had worked on were presented at the festival.
The first was the pilot episode of Baldies, directed by Eliška Soffer Podzimek – an animated series created for children undergoing cancer treatment and their parents.
The second was the pilot episode of Animalies, directed by Kateřina Karhánková and Marek Náprstek – a series about a group of young friends with physical disabilities setting off on a summer camp adventure, where being typical pre-teens proves to be a much bigger challenge than their disabilities.
At Liberec Castle, visitors could also experience Urban Flow, an architectural art installation created by my friend Ondřej Doležal, for which I had the pleasure of editing the promotional video.
I have a special relationship with Anifilm. Over the years, I have met many talented people from the worlds of animation, film and art there. But this year became particularly memorable: Baldies won Best Czech Series in the national Czech Horizon (Český obzor) competition.
The Czech Horizon awards are decided by animation professionals themselves, making this recognition especially meaningful. Our team was there to accept this wonderful award, and it is a great honour to receive such a vote of confidence from the Czech animation community.

And the journey continues: next stop, Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film, followed by Tokyo, where Baldies will be presented in the Shibuya Diversity Program at Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia 2026.
